CHOICES
The Story
An unexpected pregnancy forces 27-year-old Zazie Clarke to make a choice. . . or in this case, both choices.
In parallel universes, Zazie's decisions to become a mother and to have an abortion force her finally to face adulthood, finding vulnerability and a deeper connection to the women in her life than she ever knew was possible.
CHOICES begs the question:
How do our decisions define who we become?
The Inspiration
Having made the decision to have an abortion when she was a teenager, Jess (writer & actress) began working on CHOICES as both a personal and metaphorical exploration.
Erica (director), has spent many afternoons feasting on old photos of her mom on the frontlines of the Women's Strike for Equality March. Years before, her grandma had made the choice to fly to Puerto Rico to get an abortion.
Choice has been a generational thread in both families, something that was unpacked in the creation of CHOICES. This film is for the artists, and for anyone who has wondered about who they might be if they had chosen a different path
